With a few days remaining before the conclusion of the WRG Nanjing 2017, the Barcelona delegation has presented its project for the WRG Barcelona 2019. The act was chaired by David Escudé, Commissioner for Sport of the Barcelona City Council, and also included the presence of Sabatino Aracu, FIRS President; Carmelo Paniagua, President of the Organising Committee and Royal Spanish Roller Sports Federation (RFEP); Benjamí Pons, Trustee of the Roller Sports Foundation and Vice President of the Catalan Roller Sports Federation (FCP), and Marc Caballé, Executive Director of the Organising Committee. The team from the Barcelona project highlighted the city’s organisational experience in staging major sports events and the passion felt in the city for roller sports.

The act concluded with the screening of a moving video entitled “Passion for rollers”, which shows how the city lives roller sports, from traditional disciplines such as rink hockey, inline hockey, alpine, downhill, artistic skating or speed to others with more urban beginnings converted into lifestyles, such as skateboarding, roller freestyle or inline freestyle.

In July 2019, Barcelona will host a total of 11 World Championships as part of the second edition of the World Roller Games. FIRS is promoting this great event and its Organising Committee comprises the Barcelona City Council, Royal Spanish Roller Sports Federation, Catalan Roller Sports Federation, Government of Catalonia, Spanish National Sports Council and Barcelona Provincial Council.
