The Speed competition at the WRG World Championships is still underway. With the completion of the track events, and following a rest day, the competition action has returned with one of the most exciting events, the 100-metre Road Sprint, and the 20,000-metre Road Elimination.
The 100-metre Sprint could not have gone any better for the Navarran sprinter Ioseba Fernández, given that he was proclaimed world champion and once again demonstrated his superiority. With this gold, his tally is now three medals, one of each colour. Second place went to Mexico’s Jorge Luis Martínez Morales and Korea’s Kim Kimyoung came in third. In the women’s category, Colombia’s Yesenia Escobar and Andrea Canon were proclaimed world champion and runner-up, respectively, in this discipline, while the Taipei skater Chen Ying-Chu completed the winners podium with the bronze.
In the men’s category of the 20,000-metre Elimination, France’s Nolan Beddlaf was proclaimed champion, Colombia’s Manuel Saavedra won silver and Italy’s Daniel Niero came in third to win the bronze. As for the women, Colombia’s Fabriana Árias clinched the gold, the silver went to Belgium’s Sandrine Tas and the bronze was for Italy’s Francesca Lollobrigida.
