Colombia has controlled the first day of Speed competition at the World Roller Games 2019. Up to eight riders from the South American country have won a medal at the track located at the Front Marítim de Barcelona.
This Sunday the 200-meter senior and junior competitions have been held as well as the Junior 10,000 meters elimination + points. The Senior 10,000 meters elimination, which were also scheduled, could not be contested due to the rain and will finally be held on Wednesday 10th at 8:30 am.
In the 200 meters, the Colombian Edwin Estrada has achieved the best time, taking the first gold medal in an individual World Cup. The German Simon Albrecht finished second and the Mexican Jorge Luis Martinez third. In the women's category, the Colombian Geiny Pájaro was the fastest, followed by her compatriot Andrea Cañón and the Guatemalan Dalia Guadalupe Soberanis.
In this same event in the junior category, the Colombian Salomón Enrique Carballo - in a race in which the local skater Nil Llop has added a bronze - and the Spanish Nerea Langa -which has surpassed two Colombians- have taken the gold in the race male and female, respectively.
At about 18:00 in the afternoon, the first drops of rain started to fall on the Front Marítim Speed track, which has prevented the final of the 10,000 meters senior elimination, both in the women's category and the masculine
As for the 10,000 meters score + elimination junior, the Belgian Jason Suttel has been imposed on men and the Colombian María José Quiroz, in women.
