The Spanish men's team has closed the first phase of the Rink Hockey World Championship with a 6-2 victory over Angola, which was played at CEM Isaac Gálvez of Vilanova i la Geltrú.
The Spanish team, which has won with goals from Ignacio Alabart (2), Ferran Font, Jordi Adroher, Toni Perez and Pau Bargalló, secured the first place in group A before playing. Its rival in the quarterfinals this Thursday will be the winner of the match that will be played Wednesday in Vilanova, the teams that will fight for it will be Colombia (fourth classified of group B) and Switzerland (Winner of the Intercontinental Championship disputed in Sant Cugat).
On Tuesday, the rest of the quarter-final matches were also defined. Chile, third of group B, will face France, second of A after winning against Italy (4-2). Portugal, which won by 9-4 to Chile and finally finished second of group B, will face Italy, third of A. And Argentina, first of group B after beating Colombia by 7-1, will play against the winner of the promotion between the fourth classified of the A (Angola) and the first of the same group of the Intercontinental Championship of Sant Cugat (Mozambique).
As for the Women's World Championship, Spain's rival - who finished first in group A - in the quarterfinals on Thursday at the Palau Blaugrana will be Germany, while the rest of the quarter-finals will be Chile-Portugal, France-Italy and Switzerland-Argentina.
