Francesca Lollobrigida (Frascati, 1991) is one of the most outstanding Speed skaters of the Italian national team, as shown by her 14 world titles in the discipline. In this edition of the World Roller Games, she will participate in seven competitions: Track 1,000 meters, Track 3,000 meters Relays, Track 10 kilometers Elimination and Points, Track 10 kilometers Elimination, Road 15 kilometers elimination, Road 10 kilometers points and the Marathon. With the exception of the latter which will be held at the Avenida Diagonal-Paseo de Gracia circuit, all other competitions will take place at the Front Marítim, on the Speed track specially built for this event.
"I'll try to do it the best way, as always, it's a new track for everyone and I think it will be a fun and full of surprises competition. You have to find the best technique for this track and it's important to skate and skate to adapt to it. The installation is unbeatable: I love the sun and the beach," says Francesca.
Apart from being a speed skater, Lollobrigida is also an ice skater. "I was born with the line skates, I live in Rome and there is no ice anywhere, until about age 20 I didn’t start skating on ice, but I only did it on weekends, I like roller skating a lot more, I love the sun, feel the sweat on my skin and the atmosphere is more welcoming ".
Francesca has even participated in the last two editions of the Winter Olympics: Sochi 2014 and Pyeongchang 2018. "I went to Sochi when I had only been ice skating for two years: it was a real surprise to be able to compete. In Corea I was one of the favourites and at the Mass Start I managed to get to fourth position in the sprint, but I finalised seventh, now I still have three years to prepare for the next Games in Beijing, "he says.
The surname Lollobrigida is a popular one, especially in Italy. Gina Lollobrigida, famous Italian actress between the 40s and the 70s who won a Golden Globe and five David di Donatello awards, is the sister of Francesca’s grandmother. "I am very proud of my last name, but I have chosen another field, I am working so that when people feel the surname, I relate as an athlete and not as a family member of the actress, but I still have a long way to go," she laughs.
