Rink Hockey and Inline Hockey, on stage this weekend

The disciplines of Rink Hockey and Inline Hockey are most numerous in terms of participants and matches of the World Roller Games 2019, starting this Saturday July 6th. CEM Isaac Gálvez of Vilanova i la Geltrú will host the first phase of the Senior World Championship of Rink Hockey with the participation eight of the best teams on the planet in both genders, while on CEM Mar Bella and CEM Horta in Barcelona, will kick off the Senior World Championship of Inline Hockey with 23 male and 15 female teams.

Rink Hockey

Spain, current world champion in Rink Hockey, will defend the two titles that were won in the previous edition of WRG2017 Nanjing. Their greatest rivals will be, as always, Portugal, Argentina and Italy, both men and women.

The women’s category will start with the first championship this Saturday, we will witness the matches of eight participating teams, divided into two groups: Spain, France, Chile and Switzerland in group A, and Argentina, Italy, Portugal and Germany, in group B. France-Chile, group A, will be the opening match, and then play Argentina-Germany, Italy-Portugal and Spain-Switzerland.

In regards men's category, group A of the World Cup consists of Spain, Angola, Italy and France; and the B by Portugal, Chile, Argentina and Colombia. On the first day only two men's matches of group A will be played: Angola-Italy and Spain-France.

Inline Hockey

Regarding Inline Hockey, the competition includes a double World Championship, A and B, at CEM Mar Bella and CEM Horta, from Barcelona. The A tournament is structured in two groups and the top three qualified will go directly to the quarterfinals. As for the B, it has four groups, and the top finishers will have the option of fighting to advance to the quarterfinals. Czech Republic, the current champion, will seek his second consecutive gold.

As for the women's championship, there are three groups and the first two of each of them will enter the quarterfinals, as well as the two best thirds. The defending champion, the United States, will look for a new gold to achieve a historic milestone: to be the first women's team to win three world championships in a row.

Between the two venues, 112 Inline Hockey matches will be played, with the participation of up to 597 senior players, the highest among the 11 disciplines that are part of the World Roller Games 2019 program.
