After beating the Italian and French teams, the Spanish men's and women's teams of Rink Hockey have secured the first place of their groups in the first phase of the World Championship, which is held at CEM Isaac Gálvez de Vilanova i the Geltrú.
The Spanish women's team was the first to win their ticket after a 7-0 win over France in the last match of group A, the first part of the game the girls of Ricard Ares struggled with a 0-0 until a solitary goal by Marta Piquero was scored before the half-time. In the second half of the game, 6 extra goals were scored, two from Laura Puigdueta, another two from Aina Florenza, one from María Díez and another of Sara Lolo, sealing a comfortable victory for Spain.
The men have also secured the top spot in Group A after defeating Italy 5-3 in a game they have always dominated with two goals by Pau Bargalló and one by Ferran Font, Ignacio Alabart and Eduard Lamas. Whatever the outcome of Spain against Angola in the last match of the first phase, the team led by Alejandro Domínguez will be the first group because the African and France team tied (3-3).
In Group B, Argentina and Portugal tied (1-1) and will play the first place on Tuesday in the duels that will play against Colombia and Chile, respectively. In case of a tie, in the goal-average will be first Portuguese selection because it has won the bout of direct faults.
