Spain in semi-finals of Nanjing WRG

Sept. 7, 2017

The Rink Hockey World Championships of the Nanjing World Roller Games has now entered the phase of semi-finals. This Thursday morning, Spain comfortably defeated the Colombian team by a resounding 5-1, while Mozambique fell to Portugal (2-6) and Chile was similarly defeated by the Italian national team (3-6). And in the last of the quarter-final matches, Argentina just got over the line against Mozambique by the slimmest of margins (4-3).

So this Friday Spain will come up against Italy for a chance to play in the final, while the other semi-final sees Portugal against Argentina. It will be difficult to pick a winner, as all four teams are among the best in the world. Portugal was the European Champion in 2016, Argentina won the World Championships in 2015, Italy won the European Championships in 2014 and Spain was World Champion in 2013. So two thrilling matches are expected before the crowning of the Rink Hockey World Champion at Nanjing 2017.
