Winterclash, one of the most important international roller freestyle events, was held this past weekend, Friday 15 and Saturday 16 February. This major competition took place at the AreaFiftyOne skate park in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.
Winterclash 2019 brought together many of the world’s best riders in this specialist category and this year’s edition also included guests and competitors from up to 50 different countries. The absolute winner was Britain’s Joe Atkinson, the current world champion. Other outstanding athletes were Spain’s Mery Muñoz and Xavi Eguino, winners in the women’s and amateur categories respectively, and Denmark’s Felix Fälling, winner in the junior category. All of them will definitely be at the World Roller Games in Barcelona this summer.
Besides presenting the most spectacular tricks from the best riders on the planet, Winterclash also conducts parallel activities such as workshops, exhibitions, talks, etc., and these attracted the attention of many roller freestyle fans.
The championship was undoubtedly a tasty morsel and hands-on test for many athletes before what is bound to be the year’s most important competition: the World Roller Games Barcelona 2019, which is set to host the World Championship of this discipline in the Park competition from 5 to 7 July at Palau Sant Jordi.
