World Roller Games sign up Moovit to ensure mobility rolls smoothly

June 27, 2019

The World Roller Games 2019 want to make mobility a lot easier for fans and participants during this year’s edition, which is set to take place in Barcelona from 4 to 14 July. This is why they have signed a collaboration agreement with Moovit, a pioneering company in MaaS (Mobility as a Service) and world’s leading public transport app.

Thanks to this agreement, Moovit will use its multimodal planner to simplify public transport travel in Barcelona and the competition’s other four subvenues: Vilanova i la Geltrú, Mollet del Vallès, Sant Cugat del Vallès and Terrassa. The app offers all local transport options from any mobile device, thereby optimising transport and waiting times.

In order to make it easier for fans to move around the competition venues, Moovit has configured the app in such a way that you do not need to know the exact address of the venues where the different competition events are set to take place. You simply have to introduce the sports modality you want to attend in order to reach the desired venue in the quickest, most direct manner. Moovit similarly offers the possibility of activating its notification service to stay informed about timetables and the start times of sports events in real time.

In addition to offering multimodal routes that combine all the public transport options available in Barcelona and its metropolitan area, the multimodal planner is available in 45 languages, which is crucial for an event expecting to welcome more than 4,000 participants from more than 80 different countries.

Although this is the first edition in which the World Roller Games and Moovit are collaborating, it is not the first time that the company has reached an agreement with a sports competition, as it is also a mobility partner of the EuroLeague, ACB, RFEF and AS Roma, among others.

According to Yovav Meydad, CMO of Moovit: “It is very satisfying to see how the World Roller Games are also committed to improving the experience of participants and fans in terms of mobility, making their travel easier and reducing uncertainty and misinformation. It gives us great pride to be able to collaborate in an international event of such magnitude in a city like Barcelona.”

The World Roller Games also view this agreement very positively, given that the event is firmly committed to sustainable urban mobility. The fact that Moovit facilitates and stimulates the use of public transport by fans is very positive for the organisation of Barcelona 2019, given that it is constantly seeking partnerships to join it in its commitment to promote a sustainable event, and Moovit is the perfect partner for this.
