The 11 disciplines of the WRG 2019: Downhill

This spectacular discipline arose in the USA and involves athletes facing vertiginous descents at great speeds. The course comprises steep slopes and tight curves that put the dexterity and courage of all participants to the test, making this hazardous sport not only very fast but also very technical. The Downhill World Championships will take place during the World Roller Games in the form of three competitions: Inline, Skateboarding and Street Luge.

Some of the world’s most famous downhill skateboarding riders include figures like Brazil’s Thiago Lessa and the US’s Emily Pross. Outstanding inline competition riders are Switzerland’s Daniel Ladurner and Italy’s Renato Pennutti, Agustin Tussetto, Claudia Massara and Martina Paciolla. Finally, Spain’s Mikel Echegaray is another major figure when it comes to street luge competitions.
