Three months as a professional have been enough time for the Peruvian Angelo Caro to become the BEO (Barcelona European Open) champion of Street Skateboarding. The rider has surprised the main favorites, among them the Portuguese Gustavo Ribeiro and Jorge Simoes, who have completed the podium, and the Spaniard Danny León, eliminated in the semifinals. In the women's category, the Spanish riders, led by the Catalan Mar Barrera, have monopolized the three positions of the podium with a portentous performance.
Caro got to Barcelona having had won the Mystic Sk8 world championship last week in Prague and has left Palau Sant Jordi as the new winner of the BEO, which is part of the World Roller Games 2019 program. With the two titles under his arm, he has built a good background before his next participation at the Juegos Panamericanos of Lima and Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, where Skateboarding will be disputed for the first time.
The Peruvian, eighth in the semifinals, has completed a splendid performance in the final to reach the first final place, totaling 256.33 points. Caro has overtaken the Portuguese Ribeiro (252.67) and Simoes (239.33) in a final competition marked by the striking absence of the Spanish Danny León, who has not passed the semi-final cut.
In the women's competition, Mar Barrera has achieved the gold medal by winning the promising Daniela Terol, 10 years old, and Andrea Benítez, who with her second and third positions have made possible the full Spanish on the podium. Benítez has managed to overtake the Norwegian Tonje Pedersen and Paola Flores from Honduras to finally reach the bronze medal.
