This Sunday the discipline of Speed is launched in the World Roller Games 2019, held in Barcelona until July 14th. The track and circuit competitions will be carried out on the new Front Marítim track, located next to Llevant beach in a unique location.
The riders opened the track on Sunday June 30th and all the teams have already made the official training. This Sunday 7th of July, the competition starts and will last until July 14th, ending with the 100 meters race and the Marathon, which will take place in the emblematic Paseo de Gracia. This last competition consists of five laps to a circuit that begins and ends in front of La Pedrera and runs along Avenida Diagonal to University of Barcelona - Law building.
The first day of Speed will start tomorrow Sunday at 8:45 am with the classifications of the Dual 200 meters on track in junior and senior categories, the 10,000 meters points + junior elimination and the 10,000 meters senior elimination. At 5 pm the finals of these three competitions will begin and at 8:30 pm the medals will be distributed to the winners.
The Colombian national team is the main favorite to achieve the largest number of victories. It is the country with more representation of riders, with a total of 32, and in the past World Roller Games of Nanjing 2017 led the overall medals of the event thanks to its 25 gold, 24 of them in the discipline of Speed.
But the Colombians aren’t the only stars of this discipline, we shouldn't forget the Spaniard Ioseba Fernández, who has not dropped from the podium since 2012; Italian Francesca Lollobrigida, with 14 world titles and 24 European titles; the Belgian world champion and ice speed Olympic medalist Bart Swings or the German Felix Rijhnen, winner of the 2018 World Marathon, among other outstanding participants.
