The organisers of the World Roller Games Barcelona 2019 have presented the city of Vilanova i la Geltrú as one of the subvenues that will host the competitions of the best teams in the Rink Hockey discipline from around the world. The presentation ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Vilanova i la Geltrú, Neus Lloveras; its Sports Councillor, Blanca Albà; the President of the WRG Executive Committee and Catalan Roller Sports Federation, Ramon Basiana; the Sports Coordinator for the Barcelona Provincial Council, Daniel Laga; the WRG 2019 Sports Manager, María Moltó; the WRG 2019 Rink Hockey Manager, Francesc Gil, and the representative from Club Patí Vilanova, Antoni Ramírez.
CEM Isaac Gálvez in Vilanova i la Geltrú will host the best athletes and hockey teams from around the world between 29 June and 5 July. Four of the seven competitions of this discipline will be played in Vilanova, which represents 45% of the total WRG 2019 Rink Hockey competitions, in other words, 75 of the 170 programmed matches.
Vilanova i la Geltrú will host the first phase of the Men’s and Women’s Senior World Championships as well as the remaining matches of this competition except the quarter finals, semi-finals, match for third and fourth places and final, which is set to take place in Palau Blaugrana in Barcelona. The city will also host the World Championship and Intercontinental Championship of the Men’s U19 category.
Tickets for the Rink Hockey matches in Vilanova are on sale (from 21 Mat at 12:00 local time) at the World Roller Games website, with free entrance for the matches in the U19 category. As for the matches of the national teams in the Men’s and Women’s Senior categories, the organisation has placed a day ticket on sale that allows you to attend all the matches on one particular day (between 6 and 7). The price of this ticket will be €10 or €12 depending on the competition phase. Tickets will also be on sale at special discounted prices for clubs and/or groups.
